go for it

Have you ever been told that you can’t do something?  That you don’t have what it takes to do it?  Me too.  We all have people in our lives that will bring us down and tell us that we can’t do it.  We will always have those cruel people in the world that will try to tear you apart and do you no good.  That’s just human nature.  We might not be able to control personalities and behaviors, but we can prevent them from coming into our lives.  We have control over our own life so we can do whatever we want!

I think we all have a dream college or university that we want to go to.  We want to go there so badly that we push ourselves so hard and put ourselves in situations that we don’t want to be in.  This is the mistakes that we do in high school.  We are so busy getting to the destination when we are forgetting about what happens in between.  We forget to have fun and enjoy ourselves.  In the future, when we have kids, you don’t want to tell them that all you did in high school was studying.  You want to tell them that you joined all these clubs, go to all the football games and matches, and dated the hottest guy ever and then you met their dad.  Don’t forget that we are still kids! Or young adults, whatever we call ourselves.

Last week, I went to this conference called Women in Sports Conference.  They had motivational speakers who played all types of sports telling us that we can do anything if we put our hard work into it.  That we would succeed in anything if you put your handwork and sweat into it.  I love golf.  I love playing it and it gives me a rush.  I love my golf team. They support me through everything and there’s always a positive vibe when I’m around them.  It’s great.  I started to be more passionate about it because I found it to be something I really enjoyed and look forward to playing it more.  If you’re doing it just to get into your dream school and not enjoy it, what’s the point?  They gave me a whole other view point on sports and colleges.  It made me want to do something extraordinary beyond my capabilities.  I feel like we should all have that type of feeling when we are doing something that we love.  Do something extraordinary in anything we do.

Whatever happens after high school, we will all go to college.  It might not be your dream college but that’s ok!  Not all stars and doctors come from Stanford and Harvard.  Don’t set  your standards so high just to have them knocked down by your college.  Why work so hard in high school and work so hard in college and not enjoy everything that’s surrounding you?  But have this in mind.  No matter what happens, don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it.  That you can’t get to your dream college because there’s “too much competition”.  Disregard them and focus on your dreams and goals, but also have some fun while doing it because it will all disappear in a split second.  We don’t experience high school twice.

This is a wonderful blog post. Many people obsess over their grades, thinking that one bad mark on their progress report will end their dreams of getting into their dream college and therefore ending their dream career. They set their goals so high up that it’s almost impossible to reach them without hurting themselves in the progress, with all those sleepless nights and extracurricular activities, and when they find out that they’re not able to meet their goal, they break down. There goes the saying; when you’re so far up, it’s only a matter of time until you fall down. It’s always a good idea to push yourself out of your comfort zone, but don’t forget that our bodies can only do so much for us. We have so much more to experience in life. Sometimes during high school, we forget that we’re supposed to have fun.
